“Usadba Stahovichej” or the Stakhoviches estate is the old "Nest of Gentlefolk", situated in the village of Palna-Michaelovka, Stanovlyansky District, Lipetsk Region. It is one of the blooming oasis of aristocratic culture of Chernozemye.
Michael Vasilyevich’s death, it was inherited by his daughter Nadezhda Mihajlovna Stahovich. The estate belonged to the Stahovich family until 1917.
Throughout the 19th century, the Stahovich estate was the residence of Elets nobility. The Stahovich family opened their doors to talented architects, writers and artists. At various times, the estate was visited by Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy, Ilya Yefimovich Repin, Nikolai Nikolaevich Ge, artsits of the MKhAT Theatre with Konstantin Sergeievich Stanislavski, and other cultural and artistic figures.
In our times, the first Palna attraction is the church-mausoleum in the shape of a rotunda with a portico and a dome on a drum, built upon the plan of Moscow architect D.I.Zhilyardi.
The house "in a typically English style" has remained, so-called "House of the actor" or "House of the young Stakhoviches." It is a two-storied brick building, built in the second half of the XIX century. In addition, these have survived; the park, the bridge across the ravine in the park, the school of lace, the manager's house , "Hunter's House", outbuildings, and the pipe (tower) of a probably ever existent distillery.
